CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, PAMPANGA – The local government of the City of San Fernando, Pampanga has reportedly turned down a donation of 5000 kilograms of rice from San Fernando Electric Light and Power Company (SFELAPCO).
According to SFELAPCO, this was due to โunforeseen circumstancesโ, that were not specified by the company. The intended beneficiaries of this assistance were residents of the CSFP who were affected by the flooding brought about by the previous typhoons Egay and Falcon, as well as the Southwest Monsoon in the city.
โOriginally, the donation was intended to benefit the flood victims in the capital city of San Fernando, following the devastating typhoons Egay and Falcon,โ SFELAPCO said.
SFELAPCO also mentioned that despite the city’s refusal, the company is still seeking alternative ways to provide aid as part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility.
As a result, the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PAMCHAM) took the initiative to redirect the assistance to the towns of Masantol and Macabebe, where a larger number of residents were affected by the floods. This decision was made to ensure that the donation reaches those severely impacted by the recent calamities.
It’s worth noting that there has been a disagreement between the two parties regarding alleged excessive electricity charges by SFELAPCO, totaling P2 Billion Pesos.
