The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Bataan 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO) initiated immediate cleaning and clearing operations on national road sections following Typhoon Carina, which brought torrential rains to Central Luzon during its peak on July 24โ€“25, 2024.

The district officeโ€™s Disaster Quick Response Team (QRT), led by Maintenance Section Acting Chief Delfin Francia, undertook a range of activities during and after the heavy rains to enhance public safety, including clearing debris from roadways and waterways, and managing traffic flow to ensure safe and efficient movement through affected areas.

According to Francia, clearing operations focused on key thoroughfares such as Roman Expressway in Mariveles, Jose Abad Santos Avenue in Dinalupihan, and Gov JJ Linao Road in Bagac and Morong, ensuring that all national roads and bridges under their jurisdiction remained passable to all types of vehicles.

Meanwhile, District Engineer Maribel Navarro assured the public that the Bataan 3rd DEOโ€™s Disaster QRT, comprising trained maintenance personnel equipped with backhoes, dump trucks, and other necessary machinery, will continue monitoring road conditions post-Typhoon Carina to maintain safe road travel in Bataan.
