In a collaborative effort to preserve the cleanliness of Barangay Lawa in the City of Meycauayan, the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) organized a cleanup drive, supported by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Bulacan 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO), from August 5 to 6, 2024.
District Engineer George Santos facilitated the requested assistance to address the urgent need for cleanup following Typhoon Carina, which had left a significant accumulation of garbage and debris cluttering the roadways in Barangay Lawa, emitting an unpleasant odor and causing traffic congestion that has resulted in difficulties for local residents.
Santos directed Guballa to mobilize a mini dump truck and a wheel backhoe loader to efficiently manage the collection of debris left by the typhoon, while CENRO Meycauayan provided two garbage trucks to transport it from Barangay Lawa to Barangay Paho’s Materials Recovery Facility (MRF).
As Barangay Lawa begins its recovery, the partnership between the DPWH and CENRO Meycauayan stands as an inspiring example of how collective action can lead to successful outcomes in disaster response.
