The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) โ€“ Zambales 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) recently organized an outreach program that benefited two Aeta schools in the remote areas of San Marcelino.

This initiative, part of the Department of Educationโ€™s (DepEd) 2024 Oplan Balik Eskwela (OBE) program, provided essential school supplies to 210 students from Chiang Chio Te Memorial Aeta School (CCTMAS) and United Nation Women Aeta School (UNWAS).

In a statement, Engr. Jonathan D. Labio, Officer-in-Charge of the Assistant District Engineerโ€™s Office, emphasized the importance of such outreach efforts in uplifting students in remote communities.

โ€œEducation is a powerful tool for community development, and by organizing this activity, we hope to inspire students in remote areas to complete their education and achieve their dreams,โ€ Labio said.

CCTMAS Teacher-In-Charge Oscar Q. Dullon expressed gratitude to the DPWH Zambales 2nd DEO for the activity that distributed school kits, including bags, pencil cases, ball pens, erasers, coloring materials, and notebooks.

โ€œItong event na ito ay isang malaking tulong. Kahit malayo kami, naabot kami ng ibang kasamahan natin sa government. Ito po ang isa sa pangunahing pangangailangan namin, lalo na sa mga remote area,โ€ Dullon said.

Meanwhile, due to impassable road conditions leading to UNWAS, teachers and DPWH officials decided to use carabao carts for transporting the school kits, ensuring the supplies arrived in good condition.
